William and Arthur Fisher, in collaboration
with prominent Boston architect, Frederick Law Olmsted,
Jr., designed the exclusive Country Club Place subdivision
between Franklin and Race Streets in 1909. Architecturally
fascinating mansions and grand houses designed for
Denver's social and political elite define the 380-home
neighborhood.
Some of Denver's most stately homes
are in the Country Club area. Over the years, the
neighborhood has developed a variety of styles and
architectural designs and includes, among others,
mansions, Victorian
homes, Mediterranean,
Spanish,
Georgian,
Tudor,
Swiss Chalet, French
Chateau, Indian
Pueblo, Contemporary and a number of "Denver
Squares" - to name a few. The tremendous
amount of additions and remodeling, particularly during
the last twenty years, make it difficult to assign
a style. This is part of the uniqueness and charm
of the area.
